Vesna Dolonc posts win over seeded player at Tashkent Open
TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, Sept. 10 () -- Vesna Dolonc claimed a very tight straight-set upset win Tuesday in first-round play at the Tashkent Open in Uzbekistan.Dolonc edged eighth-seeded Yaroslava Shvedova 7-6 (8-6), 7-5, winning just four more points over the course of the 150-point match. Dolonc, however, converted six of her 10 break opportunities, going 4-for-5 in the second set.Shvedova won barely half (41-of-80) of the points on serve on the loss.No. 7-seeded Galina Voskoboeva advanced to the second round with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Maryna Zanevska by fighting off six of the eight break points she faced. She also had two breaks in each set.Maria-Teresa Torro-Flor needed just over an hour to dispatch Arina Folts, a local wild-card entrant.
