Offering shoppers, and riders, a strong Italian coffee, is one of the points of difference which chief executive Sam Settecasi believes will reflect the passion and understanding himself and his business partners have for the cycling business.
Mr Settecasi has a background in franchising,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and more recently was general manager of the Bianco Group.
As the former chairman of the Metro Stars football club,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and a former board member of Adelaide United,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Mr Settecasi knows a lot about passion for sport.
His business partners, keen cyclists and business professionals,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], set up the business about three years ago, initially as a bicycle distributor.
Key to that was securing the rights to exclusively distribute the 84 year old Italian brand Bottechia in Australia and New Zealand.
"They flew over to Bottechia and saw what was available," Mr Settecasi said.
"That worked out well. They had their first container over to Australia about two years ago,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]."
The business grew,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], adding another high end Italian marque De Rosa to the stable.
Key to these two brands is that they still manufacture their bikes in Italy, Mr Settecasi says.
"The quality of engineering and hand-made quality is what is demanded by enthusiasts,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," he says.
The company also distributes ITM components,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Catlike helmets and protective clothing,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Diamant DMT shoes and De Marchi and Salto clothing.
The company has done well in its short life, being listed at number 85 in BRW Magazine's Fast Starters list with a turnover of $1.1 million in its first financial year (2008-09).
The company has greater ambitions now however, with the first retail outlet to open in Newton this Friday, June 25.
It is just one of hopefully a chain of stores across the country,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], with the first handful already in the planning stage.
Mr Settecasi,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], drawing on his franchising background, recognised that the bicycle retail sector was fragmented, with no one retailer dominating it.
"The plan for us is to have 40-odd stores around Australia in the next two or three years," he said.
"My understanding of the industry is that it is still looking for ownership.
"From our point of view there's an opportunity there,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]."
