Lotus reveals supercharged Evora S,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]
Lotus is powering in the Evora. The standard car has already received rave reviews,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but that hasn't stopped the Norfolk-based firm from upping the strength of the Toyota-sourced V6 looking for extra power.
Thanks to a supercharger,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the 3.5-litre engine now produces 345bhp,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], up from 276bhp,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], while torque swells from 350Nm to 400Nm. All Evora S cars come with a Sport Pack as standard,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], which includes a sport button. When pressed,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], this sharpens the throttle response and opens a bypass valve in the exhaust for a little extra noise, as well as reducing the interference of the stability control and raising the engine's rev limit.
The pack also features subtly reengineered Bilstein dampers and Eibach springs to suit the additional power, while also adding cross-drilled brake discs for fade-free performance.
When it comes to pure pace,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the Evora S sprints from 0-60mph in 4.6 seconds,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], down from 4.9 for the standard car,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], while top speed rises 10mph to 172mph.
To go with the mechanical upgrades, the S receives a much more imposing rear diffuser.
Lotus has also confirmed its IPS (Intelligent Precision Shift) automatic gearbox option for the conventional Evora. The unit is a regular torque converter six-speed unit, and it has been developed to improve the car's appeal in markets that favour automatic gearboxes, like the US and Middle East.
