This beautifully restored 35mm print of the 1948 classic backstage ballet melodrama from Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger is a total joy from start to finish and almost a masterclass in great filic storytelling. An absolute and acknowledged classic,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the film has been through a lavish restoration and is a technicolour sight to behold. Moira Shearer is ravishing in the lead role of a ballet dancer who must come to terms with the demands of world-conquering ambition in the face of love. And she can really dance,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], too. Aussies will also appreciate Robert Helpmann in one of his more famous film roles. A delight,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and absolutely worth catching on the big screen,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], currently at the Chauvel in Sydney and thwe Astor in Melbourne,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], with (hopefully) a greater roll-out to the other capitals in the next month or so.
