Playground smoking ban in force next week,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]

The Millennium Park facility was chosen for the pilot project earlier this year because of its "size,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], proximity to local schools and the high level of usage of the playground by the local schools and the community in general",[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Fingal had said.
Before-and-after studies were carried out to assess support for the ban,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
Officials revealed in March: "A pre-introduction survey of parents and guardians using the playground found that 80pc supported it,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], as did the majority of smokers surveyed. In a post-introduction survey,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], 83pc were in favour of the smoking ban."
Last month's consultation process assessed the level of backing for a Fingal-wide restriction,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. It follows a call by Dublin city councillors for a similar measure to be introduced in the city area,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
