He was replaced for the remainder of the game by Matt Cassel.Ponder had led the Vikings back from a 13-point deficit to within a yard of retaking the lead in the third quarter. Ponder scrambled to his left from the Washington 15-yard line and dove for the pylon before getting hit by cornerback DeAngelo Hall and fumbling out-of-bounds at the 1-yard line. Adrian Peterson scored on the ensuing play to give the Vikings the lead.
