EPA wants Pegasus pipeline information from Exxon Mobil
MAYFLOWER, Ark., April 15 () -- Exxon Mobil was asked for information regarding the oil released from the Pegasus pipeline in Arkansas, the Environmental Protection Agency said.Exxon said it would remove a 52-foot section of the Pegasus pipeline Monday and send it to a third-party laboratory for metallurgy testing. Arkansas Attorney General Dustin McDaniel said last week the rupture measured more than 22 feet long.About 5,christian louboutin online shop,000 barrels of oil spilled from the pipeline in late March in Mayflower, Ark. Exxon said it's seen no indication that oil seeped to nearby Lake Conway or its tributaries, though cleanup operations continued in area marsh lands. The EPA said it requested information from Exxon regarding oil spilled from the pipeline. Pegasus was built in the 1940s. It can carry Canadian crude oil, which is a heavier type than conventional crude.Exxon said air quality data indicate few causes for concern, though benzene was reported in the early stages of the cleanup operation. Drinking water levels are considered safe. The cause of the incident is under investigation.
