Libya seeks C-130J deal
WASHINGTON, June 11 () -- Libya is seeking two C-130J-30 aircraft, with associated equipment and services, through a Foreign Military Sales deal worth $588 million. The entire package would include 10 Rolls Royce AE 2100D3 engines, aircraft modifications, government furnished equipment, support and test equipment, publications and technical documentation.Training of its personnel, training equipment and engineering, technical and logistics support services round out the package deal, the U.S. Defense Security Cooperation Agency said in its required FMS notification to Congress."This proposed sale will contribute to the foreign policy and national security of the United States by helping to improve the security of Libya, parajumpers online shop," the agency said."The government of Libya uses airlift to maintain the connection between the central government and the country's outlying areas. The sale of these C-130Js to Libya will significantly increase its capability to provide in-country airlift support for its forces, thus strengthening its capacity in the security arena." The agency said Libya intends to use these aircraft primarily to move supplies and people within Libya and should also be used for border security, the interdiction of terrorist elements, and rapid reaction to internal security threats. If Congress approves the deal, the prime contractor will be Lockheed Martin-Aerospace.
