There is a Table d'hote menu (?32 midweek and ?40 at weekends) but we decided to go a la carte and test some of its more glamorous food to have you salivating, and we economised by foregoing puddings.
Irish Smoked Salmon parcel is filled with a Greek yoghurt and smoked trout mousse with tossed leaves and a sultana and red grape compote; Oriental Chicken Salad has goujons of chicken marinated with coriander, cumin, chilli, panfried Parma ham, toasted pinenuts and fresh pineapple; whilst Crab Salad (?18) was a large quenelle of Lambay crab meat,[url=http://discountnikesoccershoes.webmium.com/][b]http://discountnikesoccershoes.webmium.com/[/b][/url], mixed with wholegrain mustard, honey and orange mayonnaise, on a fluff of rocket and lollo rosso perfectly anointed with a balsamic dressing, around which were tiny little crescents of individually dressed avocado. Remember all those tastes of real food that we have almost forgotten? We had a bottle of Paul Prieur Sancerre 2001 (?37) which brought our bill, including 12.5 per cent service charge, to ?159. Apart from the Table d'hote menu, Ernie's do what sounded to me a like a superb early bird menu at ?20 (+ 12.5%). The restaurant is closed on Sundays and Mondays. A little gem in the heart of Dublin 4, doing Ernie's name justice - but in Glenbeigh at 10.30pm he might have had a song afterwards.
