AIR FORCE 1 NIKE CLOT CHINESE
After already previewing the sneaker last week, we can give you some additional looks and finally also a close look at the special packaging of the sneakers.
To welcome the Chinese Lunar New Year, Nike has teamed up with Clot to launch the luckyred inspired Nike Clot Air Force 1, the auspicious addition to the Nike 1World AF1 Project.
The Nike Clot Air Force 1 pays tribute to the themes of luck, happiness and prosperity as represented by the color red which prevail during traditional Chinese Lunar New Year celebrations.
The highlight peeloff doublelayer design feature was created to inspire people to seek beyond the superficial, to search for what lies within. The Clot design team explains: "We need to remember to never judge simply by what you see."
The Nike Clot Air Force 1 comes in a special "Chinese Candy Box" packaging set. Traditionally, Lunar New Year celebrations include offering sweets and other edible treats from a red lacquer box to ensure a "sweet" year. Honoring this custom, the Nike Clot Air Force 1 packaging is a hexagonal red box with a partitioned tray layer,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], to hold shoe accessories,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and matching lid. The box's exterior is adorned with Clot graphics in black.
With Chinese New Year featured as one of 2009's widely celebrated holidays and occasions, the Nike 1World campaign looks to Hong Kongbased CLOT to offer their style and creativity on the AF1. The Air Force 1 is themed around traditional themes of luck, happiness and prosperity. As a throwback to China's roots, the shoe's upper is comprised of a subtly patterned CLOT Royale red silk with visible Air unit and black highlights. However, the most interesting point of this shoe is a highly customizable factor which includes a top layer which can be removed via burning and cutting to reveal a second leather layer which also features the similar graphics as seen on the silk layer. The tearaway concept was put to use as CLOT's own philosophy of going beyond the superficial to find deeper meanings. Keeping with the Chinese New Year theme, the shoe will come with a "Chinese Candy Box", a traditional method of packaging treats during this monumental yearly occasion. As with previous 1World release schemes, the CLOT x Nike 1World Air Force 1 will be limited only to a Hong Kong release.
Peering through the cultural whirlwind that represents Hong Kong, another day at the office furthermore exemplifies CLOT's "Business as Usual" mantra. Established amongst the cities elite, the industrious brand prepares for yet another massive collaborative sneaker launch. The most interesting aspect of these shoes is that they feature a peeloff double layer design. You can actually peel away the red colored silk to reveal a second layer underneath of a dark brown leather. The double layer style was created to inspire people to look beyond the superficial to what lies underneath.
