Two men that battered their distance to a home and launched an unprovoked attack on its occupant happen to be jailed.
Despite subjecting their victim to some violent beating, neither Phillip Powell nor Kevin Bishop could remember why they became involved,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Ipswich Crown Court heard.
Simon Gladwell, prosecuting,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], said the victim have been asleep on the sofa because his young daughter was staying with him and was woken by his dog.
A legal court heard the victim saw a shadowy figure approaching the leading door of his home in George Lambton Avenue, Newmarket, in the early hours of May 23 and he had heard a number of blows and kicks.
He called 999, but before the police arrived the door opened and he acquired a hammer to protect himself and his child.
Powell, 30,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], formerly of George Lambton Avenue and now residing in Scunthorpe, entered brandishing metallic pole and used it to assault the victim while Bishop, 48, of Perriman Close, Newmarket, bit him on the arm and shoulder.

Police arrested Powell and Bishop who admitted to using been drunk or being able to remember little of what had occurred,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].

Mr James added: is completely bewildered as to how this came to happen. for Bishop,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Mark Brown said: accepts what he did was utterly despicable. He doesn really remember what happened. court was told Bishop,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], a self-employed roofer, was deeply ashamed of his actions.
Both men admitted assault causing grievous bodily harm and were jailed for 20 months by Judge John Devaux who described it as being extremely serious offence. said the degree of the attack had been aggravated by its occurrence within the victim home during the night also,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], since it involved a weapon.
